Ning Jobs

Advocacy - Community Advocate

Overview

Ning is an online platform for social networks, which means that anyone can customize the code running their social network on Ning for free, in (almost) any way they’d like. There are currently over 160,000 social networks on the Ning platform, with 5000 new networks being created every week.

A Community Advocate at Ning is responsible for helping Network Creators and their members get the most out of their networks on Ning. It’s a fun and extremely rewarding role as you are on the frontlines getting people what they need to customize their own social networks.

Community Advocate

Opportunity

  • Help define the "voice" of Ning in our interaction with the thousands of Network Creators and their members across Ning today. This will include work across multiple touch points: marketing (including Frequently Asked Questions), communication with Network Creators on http://networkcreators.ning.com, and individual requests for help from Network Creators and their members.

  • Assist in the highly rewarding effort to make Network Creators from all walks of life successful and "Your Own Social Network on Ning" a product that millions of people use in their daily lives.

  • Serve as a highly visible representative of Ning inside and outside the company.

Responsibilities

  • Creatively and proactively solve the problems of Network Creators and their members. Use this insight and experience to make "Your Own Social Network on Ning" a product that we continue to love and evolve to be the best it can possibly be.

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for inbound requests for help from Network Creators and their members via Network Creators and The Ning Help Center

  • Identify and analyze issues, patterns, and trends in inbound help requests as well as questions on Network Creators. Funnel this data into new Frequently Asked Questions, product improvements, and bringing in others for technical troubleshooting (aka – finding bugs and getting them fixed).

  • Author blog posts, articles, podcasts, videos, and screencasts – whatever media you want to use – to communicate creative uses of networks on Ning from the simple to the complex.

  • Proactively escalate issues, observations, opportunities, and insights to the executive team. Communicate issues, opportunities, and insights to the company at large.

Qualifications

  • You love helping people and find it rewarding to solve people’s problems. Then you love to proactively use that experience to make the whole service better.

  • You think putting your stamp on a new social network for a new breed of platform, specifically one focused on empowering people to create their own social networks, is exciting.

  • You like working hard and thrive on the excitement of a start up environment.

  • You are an independent, creative self-starter who loves running with things while keeping everyone inside and outside the company in the loop.

  • You love to write. You take pride in what you write. And you can write well.

  • You spend a lot of time online and stay up-to-date on new, fun things out there for web savvy users as well as regular people.

  • You live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California and are willing to commute to Palo Alto.
